Trauma informed therapy and EMDR for Oregon based individuals

You have the capacity to heal, but you do not have to navigate this alone.

Hello! I am so happy you are here.

About me

Olivia Raccuglia, LPC (She/her)

My work as a trauma therapist has made me into an optimist. I believe that we all have the propensity toward healing. Whether we know it or not, we are always attempting to heal and grow. Though our methods may look messy or chaotic at times, we are always attempting to feel safe, whole, and authentic. We are pretty incredible in that way.

I hold a Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education & Counseling and a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology Human Services from DePaul University. I’ve lived in Colorado and Chicago but have most recently called Portland home.

Approach

Sitting with me will feel like the bridge between validation and accountability. I will hold you with empathy, honest reflection, and unwavering support.

At the core of my therapeutic approach is person centered psychology. I may be an expert in some things, but you are the expert in you. It is where those two things meet that the magic happens. Together, we'll explore how your past, current relationships, and experiences shape your beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. Through this exploration, we can untangle patterns that may be hindering your personal growth and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

However, it is my belief that cognitive methods can only take us so far. Woven into my practice with each and every client are various somatic approaches stemming from my training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Brain Spotting, and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).

As a queer woman, my personhood is intrinsically woven into my work as a counselor. At the heart of my counseling practice is a commitment to social justice and equity. I recognize that our identities intersect in complex ways that shape our experiences in the world. I strive to create a space where all parts of you are seen, supported, and valued.

EMDR is a structured therapy that helps individuals process traumatic memories and reduce their associated distress. It's based on the idea that traumatic experiences can become "stuck" in the brain, leading to negative emotions, beliefs, and behaviors. By using bilateral stimulation, EMDR aims to help the brain reprocess these memories in a way that reduces their emotional impact and allows for healing.
